Made in Canada.

Where to buy
From Amazon – You get a 1.7 fluid ounce jar for $77.95 USD. It’s currently on sale for $29.95 USD.

Directions
Wash skin with a water based cleanser. Place a pearl-sized amount on a finger and dab bits of the cream on the areas needing treatment. Then massage in the cream using gentle upward stokes until absorbed. Use alone or layer as needed. Apply morning and evening. Visible results in 2 to 4 weeks with continuing improvement for 12 weeks (sometimes sooner) with regular use.

Packaging
The jar came in a box that has company and product information on it. It comes in a silver jar with silver screw on cap. It has a white plastic seal inside when you open it. Label is white with product and company information.

Scent and formula
This has no scent to me. It’s a thick, white cream.

Ingredients
Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, Stearic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (Matrixyl) Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate.

I used this for a couple of weeks but I had to stop because I didn’t like it. It’s a thick cream that’s a tiny bit oily. Oily enough that it didn’t fully absorb and left a residue on my skin. Part of the time it would sort of ball up when I was putting it on. I didn’t really notice any improvements in my skin when I used it. It did moisturize I think, it didn’t dry my skin out. I just couldn’t continue using it because it felt gross.

Pura D’or sent me a few products to try! They sent me a bottle of Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo, a bottle of Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Conditioner in Lavender Vanilla and a bottle Pure and Organic Argan Oil. I used these products for a little over a month. The shampoo is supposed to help prevent further hair loss and thicken your hair. It did seem to reduce the hair loss a little, but it didn’t do anything to make my hair seem thicker and unfortunately it was very drying on my damaged hair. It smells really herbal like rosemary. I like the scent, it’s too bad it didn’t work out for me. It did at least clean very well. The conditioner is nice. It smells like vanilla lavender, which I really like. You can smell the scent on your hair for a little over a day after you condition. The conditioner is somewhat conditioning, but not quite enough for me. It was enough for the roots of my hair where it’s grown out, but it’s not moisturizing enough for my bleach damaged hair. It left it frizzy and dry. The argan oil is very nice. It’s very moisturizing and doesn’t leave my hair oily or weigh it down. It has no scent at all. The shampoo and conditioner have really great ingredients. I think if my hair wasn’t bleached they would probably work a lot better. They just aren’t moisturizing enough for it.

Indie Interview with Dena from AFK Cosmetics!

Indie Interview: AFK Cosmetics

I asked Miss Dena from AFK Cosmetics some questions and she graciously answered them for me! Enjoy!

11084851_810218109068992_1684813529_nWhere are you from?
I’m from a bit of everywhere! As a young kid I grew up in mostly Washington and Illinois, but in about 2nd grade I moved to Alaska and then lived there until last year, now I’m back in Washington!

When and why did you start AFK Cosmetics?
I first launched AFK on Etat in March of 2014, and actually just celebrated my one year anniversary! When I opened it was mainly a hobby since I was working full time as a Tattoo artist.

I had been making eyeshadow for a while but had only given them to friends and family up until then. Shortly after I became I was diagnosed with AS and lost my ability to tattoo. So I channeled all of my creative energy into re-vamping AFK and dedicated 100% of myself to my craft and never looked back!

How did you come up for the name for AFK Cosmetics?
Some friends actually helped me come up with it! I was having some serious troubles coming up with the idea and I went to the sub /r/DPSdolls that I help mod and they helped me come up with it! I actually almost used ‘Rage Quit Cosmetics’ haha
Bahaha that would have been awesome too, but I really like AFK Cosmetics!

What was the first product you made and do you currently still sell it?
The first thing I made (successfully) was ‘F***in Shrooms’ and I do still sell it! That color was the entire inspiration for AFK!
It’s an awesome color. I am partial to purple though.

How do you choose the name and colors for your products?
Its actually easy for me since I usually draw inspiration for colors from something. For example, for my upcoming Doctor Horribles Sing Along Blog inspired collection I basically binge watched the movie while writing down my favorite quotes and what color I believed they should be.
That’s awesome. I can’t wait to see it too!

DSC_1058Where do you make your products?
I actually took over the dining room when we moved into my apartment and now its 100% my studio. I have big tables set up, and more drawers than anyone would ever need haha

What sizes do you offer for all of your products?
For shadows I offer samples in zip top baggies with approximatly 1/4 tsp of product, as well as the standard full size 5gr jar.
For balms, mascara, and primer I have a full size option as well as a mini size, which is basically baby versions of the original. I used to carry samples of the balms, but I found it is very difficult to accurately try something meant for a tube with your finger haha

Will you be making any new products in the future? New collections?
I’m actually working on several ideas right now! As i mentioned before Im working on a new ‘Doctor Horrible’s Sing Along Blog’ inspired collection, it will include shadows, a balm, a hilighter, and AFK’s first blush! I’m also starting to brainstorm for an ‘Arcade’ collection inspired by the Arcade Skins in League of Legends, they are going to be SO GLITTERY!
Bluuushhhh! Yesssss! GLITTER! I can’t wait to see. :d Especially the blush and balm!

DSC_1359Is making makeup your only job?
Yes! Well, I’m also a mother to a very, very energetic 4 year old so I’m also a part time Ninja Turtle (according to her)
hehe! Mothering is a full time job yo and I want to be a Ninja Turtle!

What would you recommend for new customers to try?
I would recommend customers try ‘You Smell Like Burning’ its one of my oldest colors and one of my most popular selling shadows. I actually recently reformulated it slightly to help it adhere without primer better!

Would product would you say best represents your company as a whole? And why?
Oh this is so hard! I’m going to have to say ‘The Strip’ from the Wastelander Collection. Its one of my personal favorites and it is SUPER glittery, which we all know I love!

Have you had new colors/products go so awry you just trash them?
Many, many times! I try to work on new formulas in very small batches to avoid too much waste. But sometimes things just dont mix right, simple things like adding my base formula and grinding certain colors too long can take what looked like an amazing color and turn them into a mess.

DSC_6880What is your favorite product from your company?
My current favorite thing is my April color of the month, ‘You have died of Dysentery’ I’m a huge fan of mauve lips, and I love the color so much I’m considering making it a permanent part of my shop!
Ooooo. You should totally do that. It was a pretty color. :d

What’s your favorite cosmetic product from another company?
Right now I’m pretty obsessed with my Vanille Bergamot lotion from Sixteen92. My skin is hyper sensitive and dry so I need constant moisture, also it smells EXACTLY like how I take my tea!

Random questions!
What’s your favorite color?
Purple!

IMG_3035What’s your favorite perfume and what does it smell like?
My all time favorite scent ever was Escada’s Ibiza Hippie. It was simply gorgeous. It was fruity, feminine, tropical, and floral , but not overly so. I wish they still made it, sometimes I browse Ebay and consider buying a crazy over priced bottle just so I can smell it again.

Do you have any pets?
My daughter has a pet Beta! He lives like a king in a big 5 gallon tank all by himself haha
KIND OF THE SEA! Fumiko had a beta once… But she tried to pet it. d=

What do you do in your spare time?
Gaming of course! But everyone knows that haha. I also love gardening, cooking/baking, knitting, and painting!

What’s your favorite season and why?
I’m going to have to say fall. Something about the cool weather setting in, the leaves changing, the gentle rustle of them falling to the ground in the wind. It makes me want to bake some bread and make some soup!
Fall FTW!

DSC_6798Would you rather be a bat or crow? And Why?
As much as I love bats, I’m going to have to choose crow. My husband used to work at a raptor sanctuary, I used to go get to hang out with the eagles and ravens! They are so misunderstood, everyone thinks they are pests, but really they are beautiful, and startlingly intelligent creatures.
I think I am a little jealous. I would love to get to see a raven up close and personal. :d

I know you’re a gamer, what’s your favorite class of character to play?
I’m a healer by nature! I grew up gaming with my older brother, and was forced to be player 2 forever haha. It something I truly enjoy now though, pretty much anytime I am given the chance I choose a healing/support class. We are the unsung hero’s of the gaming world :)
I used to get forced to heal. xd I can do it but it’s not my thing. I’m all for dps caster. Specifically Doomchicken. I got made fun of for leveling a balance druid in Vanilla. Tsk tsk.

Thank you so much for answering my silly questions! I appreciate it. :d If you’d like to check out AFK Cosmetics goodies you can visit her shop here. You can find her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too!

Beauty Bridge sent me this palette to swatch and review! This is my first Too Faced palette and so far I like it. All of the shades with the exception of Kitty Glitter are pigmented and easy to work with. They are buttery soft and blend well. Kitty Glitter was kind of hard to work with. It just doesn’t want to cooperate. The color isn’t buttery and smooth like the others and you have to work at getting a decent amount on your brush. Leopard, Jungle Love and Panther definitely work better wet than dry. I think they definitely work a little better wet than dry. I really like all three of the light shades, Purr, Meow and Kitten. They are just the perfect highlight shades for my skin tone. I will hopefully be doing the looks that came with this palette this week. My face is seriously broke out all over from eating sunflower seeds. xd I have a big ass zit on my nose and a few other mountains on my face. I am hoping they’l be gone or nearly gone this week. This is a really pretty palette. The colors in it really complement each other.

When Beauty Bridge contacted me about reviewing something from their shop I hadn’t heard of them before. Their shop is really clean and easy to navigate. The shipping was really quick and the palette came well packaged and they even included a few skincare samples with it! They offer free shipping over $49. They also have their own skincare products! They carry several brands of cosmetics, skincare and hair care products. Each product page has lots of info about the product inluding ingredients. :) Beauty Bridge is a nice shop, you should check it out!

Priority Chef Knife Sharpener

Review: Priority Chef Knife Sharpener

press sample

Official description

  • Not All Knife Sharpeners Are Created Equal! – This Priority Chef knife sharpener is different from the many other knife sharpeners available on the market today. Most sharpeners will create a typical straight ‘V’ shaped finish. This Priority Chef knife sharpener model PC-KN02 will create a concave shaped finish to your knife, giving an extra sharpness that most other sharpeners can’t compete with.
  • Ergonomically Designed Handle and Non Slip Base – The stylish knife sharpener’s handle has been designed to fit comfortably when in use allowing you a good firm grip and has a soft, cushioned non-slip base under that stylish steel base!
  • Save Your Dollars And Never Buy Another Knife! – Why waste you valuable dollars in replacing those blunt knives with a new set? Save yourself money today by investing in one of the best knife sharpeners on the market. The Priority Chef sharpener can breathe a new lease of life into even the dullest of knives.
  • Please Note – This knife sharpener is not suitable for serrated or ceramic knives.
  • 2 Stage Knife Sharpening System – Priority Chef’s professionally designed advanced knife sharpener has 2 stages that can transform any straight edged knife to a new level of sharpness that almost any professional chef would be proud of. Stage 1 uses Tungsten carbide blades and should only be used for the dullest of blades. Around 3-4 pulls through this section will prepare your knife shape for the the next step. Stage 2 uses 2 ceramic wheels that will give your knife a high quality finish and a razor like edge.

Where to buy
From Amazon – Knife sharpener for $39.99 USD. It’s currently on sale for $13.95 USD.

Directions
Place the knife sharpener on a table surface when using. Complete one or both of the following steps, depending on how the blade is.

Step 1: Tungsten Carbide
Use this only if your knife is blunt. Using slight downward pressure, run the blade from its heel to its point through the slot. Repeat three times. Once every six months or as required.

Step 2: Ceramic
Always finish off with this step to remove any burrs that result from the re-edging and rough honing process. Without using pressure, run the blade through the ceramic wheel five times. You can also use this step on its own to maintain a sharp knife. It is recommended to do it approximately once a week.

After using the knife sharpener, carefully wipe the knife blade with a damp cloth or rinse under running water and dry thoroughly.

Do not use the knife sharpener to sharpen serrated blades or scissors. Do not put the knife sharpener in the dishwasher or submerge in water.

The knife sharpener comes in a cardboard box with directions and other product and company information on it. Inside that it’s in a clear plastic bag.

This sharpener is really easy to use. There are 1-2 steps! If you have dull knives(that aren’t ceramic or serrated) you simply put it on the counter, press down on the handle and run the knife with some pressure from the back to front through step 1 3-4 times. Then you run it through step 2 around 5 times from back to front. You do this once every six months or so. If you want to keep your freshly sharpened knife sharp you can simply run it through step 2 around 5 times once weekly. This sharpener works great. I have a couple of santoku knives and a few other knives that haven’t been sharpened in years and it sharpened them up really well. Easy, fast and works well!

A really simple and quick indie FOTD! (:

Hiii, I’m back with another guest post :d Today’s post is a really simple, minimal-effort type of look with some of my favorite indies.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I decided to try just doing a one eyeshadow look with a simple wing, because I rarely ever do that although I have a ton of gorgeous eyeshadow colors that would totally work well as standalone shades. I thought it’d be fun to try out something that’s quite new for me!

I used my Darling Girl Superstar Serum with Fyrinnae‘s Mephisto to create my winged liner. This color is like MAGIC. It’s described as being a deep royal blue with a red sheen, and it comes off as purple in the jar. When I mixed it with the serum, it looked like a gorgeous metallic red but upon applying it, the blue tones definitely shone through. It’s so pretty!

After liner, I patted on some Glitter Glue and then just used DreamWorld Hermetica‘s Little Witch all over my lid and just a little over over my liner too so it’d look more cohesive.

On my cheeks is some of DreamWorld Hermetica‘s Winnie blush and I have Hello Waffle’s awesome A Tail of Two Kitties lipstick!

And that’s it for this look! It was fun to try out a one shadow look and I think it turned out pretty nicely. I definitely should get into that habit more. Thanks for reading this post and thank you Luna for letting me guest post once again! It’s always a pleasure (: You can find me blogging more about makeup and stuff on Miekeup!
