Where to buy
From [re] fresh – You get a 1 fluid ounce bottle for $34.95 USD.
From Amazon – You get a 1 fluid ounce bottle for $34.95 USD.

Directions

NOTE: For the first time using our product, we strongly recommend leaving the peel on your skin for only 1 minute. This is so you can see how your skin reacts, especially for sensitive skin types. If there is no adverse reaction after 48 hours, use peel normally per the instructions below.

We recommend doing peels in the evening, which allows your skin to repair itself overnight and for any redness to subside.

Step 1: Cleanse skin normally. Follow with an alcohol-based toner or rubbing alcohol (this removes any last traces of oil and makeup, allowing the peel to penetrate the upper layers of skin and do its job). But if you don’t have a toner handy, it’s ok – it’ll still work.

Step 2: Apply peel using finger tips. 1 to 1.5 droppers full should cover your face. Avoid eye area.

OPTIONAL As you become used to using this products and are comfortable with its effects on your skin, you may allow the first layer to dry (1-3 minutes) and apply a second layer of the Fruit Acid Peel for increased exfoliation.

Step 3: Let peel sit for 3-5 minutes, but no more than 10 minutes. Rinse with plenty of cool water. You may want to lightly cleanse skin with your favorite gentle cleanser to remove any last traces of the peel, but it’s not required.

If skin is very red and irritated, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to cool water and rinse face. It’s not required, but it feels nice!

Step 4: Pat gently dry, apply Restore Hyaluronic Moisturizing Cream.

Step 5: Use sunscreen daily while using this product.

Recommended for use 1-3 times per week.

Skin will be smoother and brighter after first application. After 4-6 weeks skin will have improved tone, diminished fine lines and pigmentation, scars will be less noticeable.

NOTE: Many people will not actually have visible sheets of skin peeling off (like after a sunburn), but merely experience redness and tingling/burning. It does not mean it didn’t “work”, that is normal.

Packaging
The bottle comes in a cardboard box with company and product information on it. The Peel comes in a glass cobalt blue bottle with a white dropper top that has a clear glass dropper. The label has product and company information on it.

Scent and formula
It’s a clear thing gel that smells very slightly vinegar-y and acid-y. It feels sticky on the skin.

Ingredients
Purified Water, Natural Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic & Pyruvic Acids), Kojic Acid, Xanthan Gum.

I’ve been using this a couple of times a week for a few weeks now. This brightens my skin and tightens my pores, it makes my skin super smooth and soft and supple after using it. My acne scars(I get new ones frequently. ugh) appear to be lighter. I also noticed that for a couple of days after I use this my forehead and nose don’t get as oily. It doesn’t make my skin burn like some other peels have and it doesn’t make my skin super red after using it. It makes my skin a little tingly. I like it a lot and will continue using it. :) This has a pH of 2. They have a Rose Glow cleanser that has a pH of 6 that I want to try really bad. I really like this peel and I’ll be picking it up again when I’m able!

Review: Adeline Hyaluronic Acid Serum

press sample

Official description
Are you tired of looking in the mirror at skin that has been damaged by time, pollutants, and stress… and wondering where the youthful “you” went?

Time takes the youthful glow out of your skin. Add damage from pollutants, the sun, and stress, and you can end up feeling like you’ve aged years in just a few days. But why let time keep you from the youthful, radiant appearance you deserve?

Hydrated, radiant, toned skin makes you look and feel younger, improving self-esteem and making your friends, spouse, and family take notice!

The secret to healthier, younger-looking skin

Hyaluronic Acid is packed with vitamins, A, C, D, and E to hydrate and feed your skin to fade lines, wrinkles, age spots and blemishes.

With its low molecular weight, it absorbs easily into your skin, eliminating that “sticky” feeling other products have.

Perfect for sensitive skin

Our gentle, nourishing hyaluronic acid serum is ideal for even the most sensitive skin. It’s alcohol-free and paraben-free. We formulate and package our serum in an FDA-certified facility right here in the USA!

We package our serum with freshness to preserve the raw, natural ingredients!

We take great care to preserve the quality of Witch Hazel Extract, Lavender Oil, and Aloe infused in our serum to give your skin maximum moisture!

Where to buy
From Amazon – You get a 1.7 ounce bottle for $35.25 USD.

Directions
Use twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. Use as a base and apply other serums and moisturizers as well as makeup on top of Authentic skin care’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The hyaluronic acid serum will draw in the moisture from the environment as well as from the moisturizer deep into your skin for a great hydrating affect. Moisturize your face and neck every morning and/or night after you cleanse and tone. Always moisturize your face and neck in upward motions. Moisturizing is important for all skin types. In every step of skin care always use circular, upward motions with a gentle touch on your face. Don’t help gravity by tugging down on your skin and remember that the skin on your face loves you so you should love it. It’s also made in the US.

Packaging
The serum bottle comes in a cardboard box with product and company information. The serum comes in a clear plastic pump bottle. It has a frosted silver snap on cap and bottom. The pump top is silver and white. The label has product and company information on it.

Scent and formula
It smells clean kind of like antiseptic and aloe. It’s a cloudy, cream colored gel. It completely absorbs into the skin leaving no residue behind.

Ingredients
Deionized Water, Sodium Hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), Aloe Barbadensis Juice, Phenoxyethanol (preservative), Witch Hazel Extract, Acrylates/C 10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, MSM, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate (antioxidant), Sodium Hydroxide,Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lavender Oil, L-Arginine, Retinyl Palmitate, Cholecalciferol.

I’ve using this serum for about a month now. I’ve used Adeline’s moisturizer before and liked it. I also like their hyaluronic serum! It’s soothing and helps with inflammation, smoothes skin, evens skin tone, moisturizes and just feels generally good on the skin. It’s not sticky and fully absorbs into the skin. It has a fresh scent that dissipates quickly after it’s absorbed. The bottles is big and lasts a long time. I’m not even three quarters done with the bottle. It’s good stuff yo. They have a 100% money back guarantee so that if you don’t like the product you can return it for a refund even if the bottle is empty!

Maxabsorb D3 Cream

Review: Vita Sciences Maxasorb D3 Cream

press sample

Official description
Vitamin D is crucial to our body’s process of converting calcium into strong bones. We obtain Vitamin D through our diet and also from sunlight. Obtaining enough Vitamin D is critical as we age due to reduced bone strength and our heart health. Maxasorb D3 provides an easy and effective way to supplement our daily Vitamin D.

Each measured dose of lotion from our airless dispenser delivers 1,000 IU of Vitamin D3 with a full press of the pump. Rubbing the easily absorbed, odorless lotion on your arms or legs makes daily use of Maxasorb D3 an ideal way to get all the Vitamin D you need. Natural ingredients assure this lotion is gentle to your skin.

Where to buy
From Vita Sciences – You get a 50mL bottle for $29.95 USD. It’s currently on sale for $19.95 USD.

Directions
Place a full pump on anywhere on your skin and rub until the lotion is fully absorbed. Use the product as directed. The lotion may be applied to your face but be careful around the eyes. Additionally, the lotion contains skin moisturizers and conditioners that are great for any type of skin.

Packaging
The cream comes in a cardbaord box. It has product and company information on it. The cream comes in a white pump bottle with a clear snap on cap. The label has product and company information on it.

Scent and formula
This has an odd aloe scent. It’s a thick cream that has a slight oily feel and feels a little oily after it’s absorbed.

Ingredients
Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Juice, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glycerin, Palm Stearic Acid, Emulsifying Wax, Cetyl Myristoleate, Panthenol, Cetyl Alcohol, Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3), Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Phenoxyethanol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sorbic Acid, Citric Acid

I’ve been using the D3 cream once a day for a few week. It is thick and moisturizing, but it leaves and oily feeling behind. I am currently on 50,000 IU of D3 a week. My last blood test showed my Vitamin D being at 10. Oops. I need all the help I can get, especially since the sun is my nemesis. Granted 1,000 IU is a far cry from 50,000 IU, but I need all the help I can get! I think this would be good for those who don’t like or can’t swallow pills and want some extra D3 in their life.

I probably would not purchase.

Maxasorb B12 Cream

Review: Vita Sciences Maxasorb B12 Cream

press sample

Official description
Maxasorb B12 is scientifically formulated to topically delivery Vitamin B12. Similar technology as our patented B-12 Patch is used in this skin soothing lotion. Each full application of lotion provides 320 micrograms of Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) plus 120 micrograms of Vitamin B3 (niacin) and 10 micrograms of Folate.

Maintaining overall energy levels and cognitive abilities supports a healthy lifestyle. Vitamin B12 and folate help preserve DNA integrity and are important for lowering homocysteine levels. Key medical experts even suggest that all healthy adults over 50 years of age supplement their diets with 100 to 400 micrograms per day of Vitamin B12.

Using Maxasorb B12 as directed is a safe and reliable method of absorbing key B-Vitamins. Infused with antioxidants and moisturizers, greaseless Maxasorb is easily absorbed into your skin. Each 1.7 ounce bottle delivers 30 applications of lotion in protected and measured amounts. Natural ingredients assure this lotion is gentle to your skin.

Where to buy
From Vita Sciences – You get a 50mL bottle for $29.95 USD. It’s currently on sale for $19.95 USD.

Directions
Place two full pumps on the inside of wrists and rub wrists together until the lotion is absorbed into the inner arm area. The lotion may be applied anywhere but this particular area typically has thin skin and assures maximum benefit. The lotion may be applied to your face but be careful around the eyes.

Packaging
The bottle comes in a cardboard box with product and company information on it. The cream is in a white pump bottle with a clean snap on cap. The bottle had product and company information on it.

Scent and formula
It smells like mint and aloe. It’s a light orange, kind of creamsicle color. It’s a thick creamy almost waxy formula. It does leave almost a waxy feel on the skin.

Ingredients
Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Juice, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glycerin, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Palm Stearic Acid, Emulsifying Wax, Cetyl Myristoleate, Panthenol, Cetyl Alcohol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrahydropiperine, Methylcobalamin (320 mcg/dose), Niacinamide (120 mcg/dose), Sorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Folic Acid (10 mcg/dose).

I’ve been using this cream once a day for a few weeks now. It’s moisturizing but it leaves a sort of waxy residue behind. I haven’t noticed any cognitive benefits using this cream and I haven’t had bloodwork done yet so I don’t know if my b12 level has changed at all or not. It’s a decent cream and I think if you can’t take pills this would be a good alternative.

Summary

Pros

Thursday Guest Post!

Review: 4 Fragrances from Deconstructing Eden’s Type O Negative Collection

Hi! I’m Claire, and I am super excited to be your guest blogger this week :)

A couple months ago I discovered a new (to me) perfumer, Deconstructing Eden; when I saw that she had a whole collection inspired by Type O Negative they couldn’t jump into my mailbox fast enough. Be still, my goth teenager heart.

The Type O Negative collection includes four fragrances in EdP format, and I hope she considers expanding the collection because I would love to see more like these (um, Cinnamon Girl, maybe?).

Here’s a look at the collection, along with some quick reviews of all four:

Deconstructing Eden - Type O Negative Collection

Be My Druidess

A midnight fire in a dark forest this unisex blend has incense, woods, tree moss, light and dark musks and a smokey fire

This was the one I was most excited about. Not because it’s the best Type O Negative song ever (but, okay, it is the best Type O Negative song ever), but because it sounded amazing and I love smelling like all of these things. Very little could go wrong here.

Right out of the vial I get a big hit of oakmoss with some dark musks and something phenolic that isn’t birch tar.  A few minutes in I get more incense and less smoke — this smells a lot like dry incense sticks, and is really quite realistic for that type of scent. If you’re into spicy incense and woody fragrances this is definitely one to try. This (along with Black No. 1) is definitely more of a cool weather fragrance, so I’m looking forward to trying it again in the Fall to enjoy that atmospheric mossy woodsmoke aura.

Black No. 1

Milk white skin, a haze of clove cigarette smoke, burning leaves and the blackest patchouli in my collection

Opens with a fairly realistic smoky leaves accord, followed quickly by a light, clean musk that verges a bit on soapy. There are little hints of smoky clove weaving throughout the middle stages — if you aren’t looking for them they aren’t super apparent, and seem to add just a hint of spice and grit to what is essentially an interesting juxtaposition of clean musk-meets-dirty leaves. There’s a touch of the patchouli in the drydown, but I imagine it’s also contributing to the earthiness of the burned leaves. This is another one that I’ll be anxious to wear again in cooler weather.

Love You To Death

Beeswax candles, a drop of sweat, spilled wine and smoke.
Oud, black agar, a creamy patchouli, and myrrh form the base notes. The heart notes are green berries, citrus peel and spice and the top notes are smoke and beeswax

This one opens a little powdery, likely from the honey/beeswax note. It’s sweet but not at all cloying, and despite the citrus and berry notes I would not call this a fruity fragrance. This one is a bit lighter and has less throw than the others overall, but it’s quite lovely and subtle. I actually layered this one with Be My Druidess and it added a really nice amount of warm honeyed sweetness; these two made an unexpectedly cohesive pair. On its own it’s a nice, somewhat soft and feminine patchouli/beeswax/smoke blend that dries down to a gentle woody musk with the faintest hints of berry and wine. This one feels a bit like wrapping yourself in a soft, freshly-warmed blanket.

My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend

Soft, sweet and beguiling, a close to the skin, white musk forms the base. Heart notes of jasmine, soft rose, freesia, lily and black currant.
Top notes of pink grapefruit, bergamot and mandarin orange

Opens as a strong bouquet of freesia and lily backed by a classic white musk.  This is probably the most traditionally “perfumey” of this set, and the musk here does veer a bit towards soap (or maybe bubble bath) to my nose. Still, a nice composition for the classic clean musk/floral fans, and a nice warm weather fragrance. I enjoyed the drydown on this one quite a bit as the heavy florals gave way to a softer and gentler combination of sweet musk and slightly tart berry/currant with just enough rose to keep it intriguing.

Care of your Derma Roller
After you have finished using your Derma Roller, rinse the device under hot water. You will need to disinfect your Derma Roller once a week by standing it head first in half a glass of disinfectant (rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide) for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour (no longer). Then, remove the Derma Roller from the cup and shake off any excess liquid. Place the Derma Roller on its side on a clean towel to dry. When it is completely dry, store the Derma Roller back into the original case provided. Try to keep the case as clean as possible and stored in somewhere safe.

Packaging
The Derma Roller comes packaged in a cardboard box with product information and company information. The Derma Roller is housed in a clear acrylic case that holds it when it’s not in use. The derma roller is plastic and tan and has golden needles on the rolling head. The acrylic case has a sticker on it that says what the mm of the needles are.

I have been using this Derma Roller from Derma Roller System for a few weeks now. I use it on my scalp and face a few times a week. More than that and my skin gets too tinder. When I use this on my face it gets red and I can see tiny dots across where I’ve rolled for a little while after use. This gives an odd sensation when you roll it across the skin, but it’s not painful. On my face I have noticed that my acne scars appear lighter, pores appear smaller, skin feels taught and my skin just looks a little better in general. I haven’t noticed much difference in my hair, but I also don’t have the recommended Minoxidil to apply either. Hopefully I will be able to get some in the next month or so and then I can report back on how that makes a difference! I do not have wrinkles so I can’t tell you how this works with those. The feel of this going across the skin isn’t painful, it feels a little odd but not painful. I do have to note that one of the needles on my Derma Roller came bent, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference in how it works or feels. Since this isn’t painful and it’s easy to use I will definitely continue to use it. I feel that it also helps my skincare products absorb better into my skin. I don’t think 3 weeks is really enough time to get great results, but I think it will be worth continuing.
