Thursday Guest Post!

Two easy-to-do indie EOTDs! (Guest post by Sarah)

Hi guys!  I’m Sarah, and I’ll be your guest writer for today. Today I’ll be sharing with you two looks!

First up is an office-safe mermaid inspired look.

Step 1: Blackbird Cosmetics “Dog Days”, medium-light matte brown, lightly blended into crease.
1bare

Step 2: Ten Three Lab’s “The Buttler”, a deeper matte brown, blended into outer V for depth. (Fun fact: I did the label art for this collection )2ttlb

Step 3: Dawn Eyes “Beloved” patted on the inner to mid lid.  There was some debate at the studio the day I wore this as to whether it leaned more green or more blue, but it’s officially described as a “tealy golden blue” on the Dawn Eyes website.  It’s a perfect mermaid color IMO!
3deb

Step 4: Add some winged liner and mascara!
5lightliner

The final look under two different lightings.
The final look under two different lightings.

The end result is a very subtle pop of color.  Just enough to liven up your eyeshadow while in situations that call for a more reserved dress code!

This second look was born out of necesity to pack light while traveling.  Samples are super convenient for travel with so I thought it’d be a good opportunity to try out 3 new samples I haven’t had the chance to wear yet!    (Please forgive the drop in photo quality for these, I left my camera at home so all I had to work with was my phone.)

The samples featured are Shiro’s “Kaepora Gaebora”, Blackbird’s “Vintage”, and Dawn Eye’s “Mantle”.
6s

Step 1: Blend “Vintage”, a mauve matte, into my crease and outer corner.
2s

Step 2: Pat “Kaepora Gaebora”, a silvery taupe, onto the inner to mid lid section.
3s

Step 3: Add “Mantle”, a deep purple-brown, to the outer V and lower lashline.  Finish up with mascara!
4s

All in all, 3 sample baggies and a mascara wand is all you need to pack for this look…. hardly a burden!

Hope you guys liked the looks!  And thanks Luna for the feature!

Packaging
There are 5 tins, each have one of the band members on the cover. They all have the same makeup inside. They have a clear plastic sleeve with product information on them.

If you’re a fan of One Direction then you’ve probably seen these limited edition tins floating around! They include almost everything for a full face of makeup. All you need is some foundation and blush! Each tin has the same makeup inside but there are 5 different tins with each band member on the front. The makeup is drugstore quality and perfect for the teen fan! I ended up giving one of my tins to my daughter which she loves as you can see. She’s getting pretty darn good at putting her own makeup on. The colors are really nice. You have metallic and shimmery eye shadows and some decent balms in pinky/peachy colors. The nail polish is bright and pretty. The little brushes that come with the kit are utter rubbish and fell apart the first time they were used. You can find Makeup by One Direction on Facebook here.

  • No fragrances or harsh chemicals such as Parabens, Sulphates or Phthalates.
  • The lotion is made in the USA in an FDA registered and GMP compliant facility. It is not tested on animals.

Where to buy
From Amazon - You get a 1.7 fluid ounce bottle for $49.99 USD. It’s currently on sale for $19.99 USD.

Directions
Apply on your neck and décolleté after cleansing and toning. If using a serum, apply the serum prior to the cream. Can also be used on the face and under makeup. For normal to oily skin, use morning and night. For dry or sensitive skin, use only at night. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Product contains tree nuts. If skin sensitivity occurs or if you suspect an allergic reaction, stop use and consult your doctor. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Since the product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

Packaging
It’s a black plastic pump bottle with a red label with white details. Has product and company information on the label.

Scent and formula
It’s a white creamy lotion that is slightly thick. It smells herbal with a hint of that acid smell you get with glycolic acid.

Ingredients
Organic Herbal Mix, Organic Aloe, Organic Sunflower Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Octyl Palmitate, Glycolic Acid, Organic Coconut Oil, Squalane, Lactic Acid, Palm Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Stearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Stearate, Organic Beeswax, Plant Derived Hyaluronic Acid, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Cucumber Distillate, Royal Jelly, Wildcrafted Propolis, Wildcrafted Verbascum Olympicum & Thapsus (Mullein), Organic Jojoba Oil, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10), Phytic Acid, Phospholipids, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, Wildcrafted Oregon Grape, Wildcrafted Green Tea, Camellia Oil, Avocado Oil, Wildcrafted Eyebright, Helichrysum Essential Oil, Organic Licorice, Lemongrass, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Palmitate), Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Tamanu Oil, Wildcrafted Wild Indigo, Organic Borage Oil, Organic Flax Seed Oil, Organic Evening Primrose Oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Wildcrafted Arnica, Organic Lavender, Organic Calendula, Organic Chamomile, Macadamia Nut Oil, Sodium Carbomer, Sclerotium Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Lecithin, Lemon, Sugar Cane, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin.

This is a neck cream that you can use on your face and chest also. I actually just used it on my neck! This smoothes skin and makes it firm and supple while hydrating. It’s not greasy at all and absorbs really well. It has a slight scent but once it’s absorbed you can’t smell anything. I definitely noticed a difference over the last few weeks that I’ve used this. I think my only complaint is that sometimes it balls up on me when I’m massaging it in. I think maybe it’s reacting with some of my other skincare products that I bring down onto my neck, but I’m not positive. Body Merry offers a 90 day 100% money back guarantee, no need to send in the bottle either!

Anti-Aging Moisturizer Face Cream

Review: Adeline Skin Care Anti-Aging Moisturizer Face Cream

press sample

Official description

  • 5 POWERFUL ANTI AGING INGREDIENTS IN ONE BOTTLE: Adeline’s Anti-Aging Face Cream is formulated with 5 powerful ingredients that fight wrinkles and rejuvenate your skin: Matrixyl, Witch Hazel, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C & Vitamin E. The results on your skin are fantastic! You would normally have to purchase multiple creams to attain the benefits that we pack into one of our bottles. Our customers discover they don’t want or need to use any other creams on their face after using our skin cream.
  • SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN to double the amount of collagen needed to give the skin its elasticity. This means your wrinkles are going to fade and you will no longer be looking at celebrities and other women wondering how they look so young because you now know the secret. Start feeling more confident. Your search for the perfect anti-aging skin cream is over!

Where to buy
From Amazon – One ounce bottle for $35.25 USD.
From Adeline Skin Care – One ounce bottle for $37.50 USD.

Directions
Cleanse face then apply daily to face and neck or body.

Packaging
You’ll receive a silver and clear plastic pump bottle. The cap and bottom of the bottle are silver, the middle of the bottle is clear. The details are mostly black with some teal. The label has the product and company info in it. The pump is white and silver.

Scent and formula
The formula is white and it’s not thick, a tiny bit thin. It smells like peppermint, but the scent isn’t too strong.

Ingredients
Deionized Water, Witch Hazel Extract, Glycerol Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Shea Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, PEG-8, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate VP Copolymer, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, PPG-12 SMDI/Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Peppermint Oil, Green Tea Extract, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate.

Adeline’s face cream is quite nice. The formula isn’t very thick and it’s almost a little watery, but it smooths out and absorbs really well. It leaves your skin quite soft and smooth and very moisturized. It does have a peppermint scent, but it dissipates not long after it’s been absorbed. You only need one pump to completely cover your face and neck. This leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth and a little bit plump. There’s no oiliness at all. I don’t have wrinkles so I’m not sure how well it works to smooth them out. This moisturizer has ingredients that stimulate collagen production and skin regeneration and lift, tone and oxygenate the skin.

They also offer a 100% Empty bottle guarantee! If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, even if the bottle is completely empty you can contact them for a full refund.

If I could get it on sale, yes!

Thursday Guest Post!

Life’s Entropy Cosmos Lipstick in Blackbody vs. MAC Cyber

Hello! My name is Jules, and I consider myself to be a Makeup Enthusiast. I am not a professional by any means, but makeup is definitely my hobby. I enjoy a blend of mainstream and indie makeup, and I love comparing and contrasting the two, especially to find color dupes.

Today I wanted to work with one of the Life’s Entropy Cosmos lipsticks,  a product that was highly coveted, and limited edition. I only snagged samples of most of the collection, but I’m happy that I did! Although there were some complaints about the product (sweating, for the most part)  I was really pleased. I find the formula to be comfortable to wear, and non-drying.

When swatching these, I wanted to see if I had any similar colors in my collection, and I thought that Blackbody would be a close color match for Cyber, a permanent shade in MAC’s lipstick line.

The following swatches were done over bare skin, under a daylight bulb, with flash.

Leftm MAC Cyber; Right, Life's Entropy Blackbody
Left, MAC Cyber; Right, Life’s Entropy Blackbody
Left, Life’s Entropy Blackbody; Right, MAC Cyber

From the swatches, it looks like Blackbody has more of a brighter red tone to it. Cyber can be worn in a light layer as shown here, or be layered to become a more deeper plum, where it would have less of a red tone, and lose its closeness to Blackbody. In terms of finish, Cyber is more of a matte/satin finish, while Blackbody has more shine to it. Cyber also has a drier texture than Blackbody, and to me, is less comfortable to wear. (However, I wear all products with a lip primer!)

I know the Cosmos lipstick line was supposed to be a line of dupes for some of the shades in the NARS Audacious line, so before you come running to me telling me the obvious dupe for Blackbody, I wanted to see what else might be close! (Also, cheaper!)

If you liked this post, you can find me over at The Brauhaus! Thanks for reading!

Ugh. I need an adult

I am currently dealing with pneumonia. Wee. I’ve been sick for the last couple of weeks. Thursday I saw my doctor who confirmed it was pneumonia. I am on antibiotics at the moment and I have a couple of inhalers that she’s added to my long list of medications. I don’t feel like death warmed over anymore, but I still feel weak and sick. My lungs are pretty angry. Hopefully after being on the antibiotics a few more days I’ll feel better. *crosses fingers* The kiddo’s are doing well and are no longer sick, just a bit of a lingering cough. So yay for them. Let’s pray my little plaguebearer’s don’t bring anything else home. t.t First it was Fumiko with strep throat and then last week Sascha came home with a viral infection. I ended up having to take him to the ER because of constant throwing up. They put him on some anti-nausea medication and told me it would take a bout a week for the virus to run through him. Which it did. No more sickness please! I am never going to get caught up!

Also I started a little side blog for me to keep up with my diet and blood sugar. It’s too difficult for me to remember to pick up a pen and write in a note book. This will be easier. I have to get caught up from the weekend but so far it’s working. Om Nom Nom food & blood sugar logging!
