In NightShade, nothing is as it seems . . .

Eleri Eams didn’t think she’d ever be allowed to work for the FBI again, so the special FBI division of NightShade seems like an amazing opportunity. But all too soon, her chance to start over starts to disturb her.

When the FBI offers Donovan a chance to leave his job as a medical examiner and try his hand at something new, he takes a chance on the NightShade division. Somehow, he has to try to escape from his shadows, but can he trust Eleri with the truth?

Thrown together on their first case, Eleri and Donovan must deal with a charismatic cult leader and his true-believers. book

I have to admit I loved this book. I read it in less than two days. It’s an amazing shapeshifter story and I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book I’ve read by A.J. Scrudiere and I can tell you that I’ll be picking up more. The writing is amazing and the story keeps you entranced. This was not a predictable or boring story and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Just a note, I have a migraine so I’ll be editing this and adding more in the next day or two.

“What would you say if you suddenly received a mysterious phone call from someone telling you that there weren’t forty-eight of Gutenberg’s books, but forty-nine?”

Hannah, a green-eyed beauty, finds herself in mid-life with no husband, no work, and no clear direction. Following a promising ad, she joins an enthusiastic professor on a perilous search for a lost copy of the Gutenberg Bible, last seen in the 16th century. To succeed where others failed, they must decipher ancient encrypted texts, enter monasteries and torture cellars – and avoid dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to lay their hands on this priceless antiquity. But then they are forced to face an even greater challenge…

This suspenseful romance reveals an ancient love that drowned in blood 500 years ago, yet has endured to this day.

Where to buy
From Amazon – The kindle format is $ 0.99 USD and the paperback version is $12.53 USD.

So this book was hard for me to read. It’s basically about a Jewish historian named Hannah from Israel who ends up going on a trip to find a lost ancient bible with a man named Mickey who specializes in old scrolls and what not. They find clues about the bible through her dreams. They end up being followed by crooks who want to get to the bible first as a bunch of museums and other people were contacted about the priceless books. In the end Hannah finds it in an old monastery, but as she brings it up from the basement she finds herself at gunpoint by the men who kidnapped her love Mickey(They fell in love). She ends up stealing one of the covers from them, finds a rare document she was trying to find from a victim from like 500 years ago whose family was murdered for being Jewish and pretending to be christian. Things worked out in the end. The documents truly were priceless, Mickey was found safe, the crooks were caught and prosecuted, they got married and had a baby. It wasn’t a bad story, but what made it hard to read was all of the terms in the book. I had no idea what most of them were and had to look them up which made going back to read more difficult. I wish the book explained them. Just a brief description of what something was. It would have been easier to read. I could have just ignored things and read on but it really bothered me that I didn’t know what these things were. I also found myself skipping paragraphs here and there. Parts of the book were painfully boring and I just needed to get past them. Anyways it was a decent book, a difficult read.

Based on the true story of the lady of the shadows

Jordan is an intelligence and covert operations agent. She is a beautiful and sensual woman in a world of macho men. Carrying with her the experience of an army commander, she becomes a sophisticated spy. She enrolls in obscure missions behind enemy lines and recruits the dancing skills that accompany her since childhood in order to infiltrate an exclusive men’s club in a hostile country.

After her discharge from the unit, she continues with missions of espionage and surveillance as a private investigator, “a shadow woman”.

>>> The Shadow People

Between the more recognized “shadow government” to “shadow war” there is a world of concealed shadow people. The shadow people secretly gather intelligence through observation and surveillance in the covert intelligence world.

In the spiritual world, the shadow people are God’s followers who walk in his shadow.

In the psychological aspect, these people accompany the individual in life’s crises and upheavals.

All of these together are embodied in book “The Lady of the Shadows” and its heroine who went through all the stages, from an intelligence agent through a private investigator, a student and a teacher in the mystical world until she became a PhD in psychology and an Adlerian lecturer. She chose to help people while she herself remained in the shadows.

After reading this book, you would not walk through shadow zones.

>>> A wild and liberating femininity

Betrayals, dancing in foreign territory, pain and growth, are all leading the reader in a suspenseful and exciting experience that contains insights about love, hate and revenge.

This is a book about a wild and liberating femininity and a sensual and passionate woman in a world dominant by males. Reality and imagination are fused together inseparably and concoct a sweeping and moving story.

Where to buy
From Amazon – You can purchase the kindle edition for $3.99 USD.

I found this book interesting. It’s not the normal genre I would get for myself. The first night I read it I got to 79% without realizing how much I’d read. It’s basically about a woman in Israel named Jordan who enlists and finds herself working in a military prison, which during her time was a mans world. She quickly rises and quickly becomes a spy. Eventually she becomes a private investigator. She takes all kinds of clients and investigates cases from adultery to child trafficking. Throughout her life as a private investigator she finds love and loses it, finds it again, marries, has a child, becomes injured and loses her husband to death. After his death she becomes the strength for her young child all the while doing her investigations. Eventually her grief catches up with her when her son is 19 and a soldier himself. In the end she writes her dead husband a letter and reads it to him at his grave, forgiving him for leaving her. It’s an intriguing book and I really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that it needs to be proofread better. There are several spelling mistakes. Other than that it’s a great read and was a nice change from my usual style!

A young adult fantasy about the ancient gods in modern times.

A teen becomes entangled with the gods of Mount Olympus when one of them, Thanatos, the god of death, wants his chance at love. He makes a deal with his father, Hades, to go to the upperworld to win Therese’s heart, but not all the gods are happy.

Part paranormal romance and part adventure story, this trilogy follows Therese’s adventures as she struggles to overcome the challenges the gods dish her in her quest to become like them.

Follow Therese’s adventures as she strives to become a goddess in the ancient Greek pantheon.

Where to buy
From Amazon – For $5.98 USD.
From Barnes&Noble – For $5.98 USD.
From Google Play – For $6.14 USD.

This trilogy includes The Gatekeeper’s Sons, The Gatekeeper’s Challenge and The Gatekeeper’s Daughter. The book series is geared towards teens, but I enjoyed it. My son is a HUGE fan of Greek Mythology and because of that I’ve spent my fair share of time learning about it. These books were refreshing to read(because they weren’t sexual. I’ve been reading the Anita Blake series >.> ) and a little bit morbid, which I like. I don’t think my son would enjoy these as he’s at a point where he doesn’t really enjoy anything having to do with a love story and these are about a Greek God who falls in love with a girl, who in turn falls in love with him, despite all the crazy stuff they have to go through. I do think however my daughter will love these when she’s a little older. (I’m still going to try to get my son to read them, I still think he’d enjoy them despite the looooove) Overall these are good books and would be great for the teen who doesn’t just want to read about a love story, but wants to read about fighting and pain too.

What? They totally go together! :shifty: I sold a second pair of earrings today while I was at the therapist! Thanks Krista! ^.^ I can’t wait for the supplies I ordered last night to come in. Making jewelry is addicting. :( I’m already wanting to make necklaces/bracelets. Oh noes! I need to invest in some organizers to put my beads in. Leaving them in the baggies doesn’t work out so well.

Onto waxing! So I tried some time ago to make my own sugaring mix and tried waxing my legs myself. It kind of failed miserably. In certain areas on my leg it would remove hair just fine, in others… not so much. In the places it did yank out hair I developed bumps and a rash and horrible ingrown hairs. It’s safe to say I’ll never try to wax my legs again. Also word of advice, don’t google waxing bumps or such, you’ll regret it. I promise.

I do however wax my underarms. I have a little wax pan that I originally purchased for waxing my face(which is horribly painful. t.t ), and then started using it on my underarms. It’s surprisingly painless most of the time. Though about every other time, it’s horribly painful. :( I keep hoping my body with give up and be like “Dude she’s gonna keep waxing, just give up!”. But yeah. If you’re afraid of waxing your underarms, I’d try it out a couple of times. It’s so nice to not have to shave your underarms every single day.

P.S. Halfway through the first hunger games book. I like it so far. I’m excited to get through the first book and read the other two.

I’m trying to find books for Sascha so I can have some when he visits. The only problem is I’m not sure what his reading level is and I’m not sure what he likes to read. So at the moment I’m just looking at age appropriate books for a 9 and a half year old boy. He pretty much likes everything Kai and I do as far as games and things go, so I’m thinking he’ll like the type of books we like too, at least a little. Any suggestions would be awesome! So far I have the following books picked out:

  1. Percy Jackson & the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
  2. Kane Chronicles series by Rick Riordan
  3. Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan
  4. Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica series by James A. Owen
  5. The Last Dragon Chronicles series by Chris d’Lacey
  6. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  7. 100 Cupboards series by N. D. Wilson
  8. Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull
  9. How to Train Your Dragon series by Cressida Cowell
  10. Skulduggery Pleasant Series by Derek Landy[1. this series is actually 10+ but it looks like something he would like.]

Sooo yeah, those are the books/series I’ve had recommended or liked. Thoughts? Suggestions? Also… This is the soap I think I’m getting for Sascha. Becca said she could make it in Grass Stain for me. I think Sascha would like that and the Mountain Dew scent. :SPROUT:

Bahahaha! That is all. Gonna try a sample of this renowned[2. seriously I’ve read nothing but amazing things about this soap from practically everyone I follow. I don’t think I’ve seen a bad review of it.] soap when I order Sascha’s. Hopefully the glycerin in it doesn’t bother me. :)
