Sweet Baby Imp

Fumiko has been just amazing! Lately she’s been waking up every morning, happy. She wakes up smiling and giggling, and talking. She crawls over to Kai and slaps his face, and smiles, then she crawls over to me and climbs on me and looks into my face and talks and smiles. It’s so sweet and adorable and wonderful and I love her! She’s been doing an excellent job at crawling. She’s got it down so well. She’s been using everything she can get her hands on to pull herself up and try to walk. It’s incredibly cute because miss Fumi-chan, will pull herself up onto say the couch, and she’ll stand there holding on and start squealing, and doing this high pitched cute talking and say “Baa baa baaa ba!”. It’s so cuuute.

Kai hasn’t been getting off work until around 10pm, so we’ve been staying at the shop to wait for him. Last night was my moms weekly bible study class. John brought Martian Child to watch. It was a great movie by the way. :) But Fumiko kept pulling herself up to stand with her walker, then she’d stand there and talk and squeal, and be incredibly cute and proud of herself for standing. She does that when she’s proud of herself. She lets out high pitched squeals and “baa baa baa” or “boo boo boo”.

She’s also learned that if she wants MR. Fuzzypants to stick around and lay by her she has to pet him gently. How come a 6 month old can figure it out by my 6 year old can’t? :wtf: Anyways, Kiyoshi has been laying by her on the floor and she just sits there and pets him as best she can and he lets her. It’s very cute! Also, last night she packed away about 200 fresh blueberries. o_O She loved them! She loves fresh fruit, and fresh veggies. If I’m eating anything that is soft enough for her to eat in the way of fruit or veggies, she’s in my face trying to grab it. She’s been eating good. You can tell she’s starting to get bigger and gain weight finally. :) She has also been drinking out of a bottle occasionally. Which I’m incredibly glad for. With her already eating, and refusing to drink out of a bottle or a sippy cup I was concerned that were gonna have a problem with weaning her. But it looks like it won’t be an issue. :)

See I’m worried about nursing her when she gets teeth.. She already bites, hard, and a lot. It hurts horribly even without teeth. I keep telling her if she doesn’t stop biting, she’s not gonna be nursing when she gets her teefers. My nipples are not teething toys thank you. -.- So I’m glad that she’ll use a bottle now. It eases my worry. :) It’s also nice because it allows someone else to feed her when need be.

And I have photos to resize and upload. Hopefully I’ll get to them tonight! :)

Diapers and Such

So the other day I ordered two fuzzi bunz pocket diapers to try. One in yellow and one in bubblegum. My mom paid for them. I decided to try them because Fumiko gets diaper rashes easily and quickly. There was only one brand of diapers and wipes I could use for Sascha, if I used anything else he’d break out super bad. Fumiko is proving to be even more sensitive than Sascha. We had to get new wipes the other day because Wal-Mart has been out of the White Cloud wipes for a couple of weeks now. The new wipes we got gave her a horrible rash and it still isn’t cleared up. I’ve also notices that she has a constant rash around her little legs where the diaper is, so for whatever reason it’s irritating her. Hopefully the cloth diapers work out well. I’ve read several reviews and they’ve been 99% good. The fuzzi bunz diapers have had the best reviews that I’ve read at least. So here’s to hoping.

The bottle issue is getting worse. I had found a bottle she would use when I couldn’t nurse her, but now she isn’t even willing to use that one. On the same website where I ordered the fuzzi bunz diapers I came across a bottle I want to try out. It’s the Adiri Natural Nurser. It looks like a plastic boob. So I’m hoping since it’s pretty much similar to a boobie that she’ll be okay using it once in awhile. Kai likes feeding her, but it’s impossible when she won’t use a bottle. Plus she’s using nursing as her security blanket right now and my breasts are incredible sore and inflamed. Sometimes it gets to the point where I can’t nurse her because it’s too painful. So if we have a bottle that she’ll use, Kai or I can give her milkies that way.

I made panko breaded tilapia with rice and tonkatsu sauce for dinner. :h: yum yum!

I keep seeing commercials on tv for cruises. They look wonderful. Maybe one day we’ll be able to go on one. If I can convince Kai to go. He’s not too fond of the water, or so he says.

Almost 2 months

So Fumiko is almost two months old. She’ll be eight weeks on Monday. This past Monday we had our last check up with Andaluz. Fumiko weighed in at 9lbs. 6oz. and she was 22 and a half inches long. She no longer fits in her newborn clothing that has feet. They’re too short. So she’s been wearing onesies with babylegs. :P Yesterday I picked up a boppy pillow for breastfeeding and a bouncy chair, which ended up being by boppy as well. It wasn’t planned, but it was the best buy I could find. The boppy pillow was on sale for $29.99. So that’s why I picked it up. Regular pillows haven’t been working out, they keep slipping or she slips and it ends up with her being frustrated. I decided to get a bouncy chair because my upper back and shoulders are incredibly sore from bouncing her all night pretty much every night. Fortunately she actually likes it. Thank goodness.

I have lots of catching up to do, many assignments need to get done. I haven’t touched my computer much at all except to check my email and visit BoardX. So yeah much to do. Eventually I’d like to even do a nice illustrated header for this layout. Eventually. We still have no routine, I have no idea when things will fall into a routine, but I hope it’s soon.

Small Update

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations and birthday wishes! From now on we should be having fun parties. Fumiko’s Birthday is December 31st, New Year’s Eve and my birthday is January 1st, New Year’s Day. Then there is Kai who’s birthday is January 7th, and Russ’ birthday is December 30th. Lots of birthdays all in a row. :) Kai’s mom flew out this morning. :( We shall miss her, and not just because she cooked us yummy food and took care of us! She’s so much fun to be around and to talk to. Hopefully we will be able to save up some to go visit the family in California. Flights from Portland to Sacramento are super cheap, less than $100.00 for a round trip ticket.

I’ve been resting pretty much. Or at least trying to. We’ve been watching random tv shows, America’s Next Top Model marathon’s and some real estate shows. Nothing too interesting. I am currently on two medications. One for my blood pressure and one for pain. I ended up going to the emergency room the other night. I had visited a Naturopathic Doctor on Friday. I wanted her to check my foot and see about my ear and neck. When she checked my blood pressure it was 190/120. Dangerously high. She was very concerned about my foot and the symptoms I was having, she thought perhaps I may have a blood clot in my leg. So as soon as we left her office we stopped home to get my insurance card and went to the hospital. It took them quite a few hours to get my blood pressure down to normal, and two different medications via IV. The first medication they gave me I had allergic reactions to: bloodshot eyes and burning, swollen lips, red spots all over my face, congestion, I couldn’t breathe from my nose, and labored breathing. They ended up giving me 4 doses of that one before switching to another because it wasn’t really bringing my blood pressure down. The second one they gave me brought my blood pressure down quite a bit, so they gave me 2 more doses. Last night my blood pressure was up again before it was time to take my pill. This morning it was only up to 156/102 before I took it. So it’s starting to slowly come down. I’m still getting bad migraines with it, so that’s why they gave me some pain medication as well.

I’m not nursing Fumiko right now. There’s no way I want her getting any of these medications. I’ve been giving her some organic formula which she’s doing well with. I’ve also been pumping and tossing out the milk, so my milk doesn’t dry up. I’m supposed to be on these medications for at least a week, so hopefully by the end of the week my blood pressure will be back down to normal and I can stop taking them. I’ve been trying not to take the pain medication every 4 hours like it says to. I’ve been trying to wait until the pain gets bad before I take them. They make me very sleepy to the point I can’t stay awake. Which would be okay except Kai is going back to work tomorrow and I can’t be falling asleep with Fumiko and Sascha to take care of. Sascha also goes back to school tomorrow and tomorrow is Kai’s birthday! So Happy Birthday to him! Fumiko will be a week old tomorrow!

I think I shall go take a bath. My back is still a bit sore. Hope everyone had a lovely holiday season!

Shopping Day

Today was very nice. It’s not often I get to go out to eat with my mom, let alone go shopping with her! But today we did just that. $_$ She got an extra bonus on her check this month, so she decided to get us some baby stuff. Woohoo! We went to babies r us and got the cherry blossom baby swing, as well as the crib mattress. :) We also got a mattress pad for the bassinet, and a cover for that, a quilted cover for the crib mattress, and a sheet saver pad. Afterwards we went out to breakfast, then we went to New Seasons Market because I needed to get some groceries. I also picked up some Glucomannan. It’s been the only thing that I can use for constipation, that doesn’t cause any painful side effects. It’s also helpful for blood sugar regulation. So yay. I picked up some more chipotle hummus for Kai, and some Lemon hummus for Sascha as well as some almond cheese for Sascha. I also got some other groceries. And Meyer lemons finally! I’ve been hunting for them for awhile. I’ve wanted to try them because they’re supposed to have a tangerine-like flavour to them. We shall see!

I found this super comfy rocker at babies r us. We thought it was $149. However it had the wrong tag on it and ended up being $379.00. Ugh. It was really cushy, it swivels and rocks, and it’s super wide. I sit indian style because it’s more comfortable for my back. So it would have been perfect. It also came in this pretty chocolate brown colour. Ah well maybe in the future if they still have it. Even my mom was bummed about it, she really liked it too. Right now the only baby thing we really need is the car seat/stroller combo. Kai’s mom is planning on getting that for us though. It just hasn’t been available online. So she may end up sending us the money for it. We shall see! My mom is going to try to see if she can find anyone who wants to go in half on the rocker. lol She really liked it. She’s dead set on me having a rocker to nurse the baby. The sad thing is most of the gliders they had cost more than the rocker we liked. And it was bigger and way more comfy. How sad is that? You should have seen the look on my moms face when she realized it had the wrong price tag. It was like pure horror. lol She was so thrilled because she finally found a rocker I like.

Tomorrow is our one year anniversary! It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. It really doesn’t. I keep thinking about how long we’ve been married and how far along I am in my pregnancy and it just doesn’t seem real. I’m so eager to have the baby, but at the same time it doesn’t seem like it should be even near time for me to have her. I mean I can go into labour any time now. It’s weird. At least we have almost every ready. Well with the exception of packing the diaper bag and my bag, and the car seat. Everything else is all ready for her. We still have to clean out her closet, but there’s plenty of time for that. My mom and I were also looking at breast pumps today. I was unable to breastfeed Sascha for more than a month, I foresee having similar problems this time. So we went ahead and compared some breast pumps while getting the other baby stuff today. I don’t know if she’s going to go ahead and get one before or wait until after I have the baby to see how it goes. I can’t believe how expensive breast pumps are. Holy cow. We looked at the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Pump, and the Medela Swing Pump. A really nice sales associate helped us out and explained the difference with them. She personally used the advanced pump so she was able to let us know how it went with her. Since I’ll be pumping exclusively if I get a breast pump we decided to go with the advanced pump when we get one. We’ll see how it goes.

My mom tried to talk me into buying a turkey dinner and apple pie this year. Mainly because of how far along I am and how hard it’s been. But I really want to cook. It makes me happy and it feels good to know I made a good meal. Besides depending on when I have the baby I may not be able to cook Christmas dinner. So I want to cook Thanksgiving dinner if at all possible. I’m definitely not going to cook as much as I did last year, just the basics this year. :) Well with the exception of the apple pie. Kai however wants me to make two apple pies, he wants to take one to work. We shall have to see. I should have gotten some blackberry sorbetto at New Seasons Market today. I’m craving blackberries now. Poop.

I think I shall go take a hot bath and then a nap. My body is very sore after all the stuff we did today. I think I over did it a bit. My uterus was not happy with me at New Seasons Market. Every so often it was contracting, very painfully.
