Kinda, sorta, trying to kick my butt into stuff. It’s not laziness, I wish it were. I just can’t seem to get back into what I was doing before. I want to, I just simply can’t. Mind says DO IT, body says EFF THAT. Part of it is all of the work that comes with swatching. It’s a huge effort for me. I planned on getting back into swatching like I did before; bare skin, primer and glitter glue, but I haven’t. So I guess I’m not really asking a question so much as saying for now, for awhile, I’m just going to do swatches over glitter glue, over primer when I’m up to it. So uh, yeah.

Things are all jumbled right now. Like whoa. I’ve been saving up for my tattoo. Finally. I wish I could go to sleep and wake up on tattoo day. I’m getting my lotus on my chest with “love as thou wilt” above it. Maybe that will kick my butt. Maybe not. We’ll see. The end of the month can’t get here soon enough. One last thing. I’m looking for a real rose gold eyeshadow. I know I’ve seen one somewhere, but I can’t place it. So if anyone knows of any indie shadows that might work please let me know. I guess with my brain all scrambled lately it’s decided it likes gold, which is strange before I love and prefer silver jewelry, not gold, but now? Gold it is I guess. Anyways I’m looking for this, this or this color. I’ve found a few shades that are close, but no buenos. Halp please!

Quick Swatch – Persephone Minerals; April Showers, Pollen Dust & Marigold

A few quick swatches for Persephone Minerals! Let me just say I totally failed on these swatches. I meant to do three of the Pearlescent Petals collection, but instead I did two Pixie Powders and one Pearlescent Petals. Whoops. So as many of you know, Persephone Mineral’s is back in business. Woot! Vic has come out with a few new collections and has some old and new stock in the shop. Due to my body trying to murder me I’ve only been able to do some quick swatches over glitter glue. Also as you can uh see, my camera, my hands, the sun, the eyeshadow pot, I don’t know what but my camera was not feeling the Pixie Powders. So sorry for the blurry shots yo. I promise to come back later and add the rest, but until then, here you go!

Indie Interview: Chinovi Cosmetics

Vanessa from Chinovi Cosmetics graciously answered my silly questions. Thank you.
Luna: How long have you been making indie cosmetics, and what made you start?
Vanessa: I started playing around with formulating around March 2011 and I opened Chinovi April 1, 2012. I started Chinovi because I enjoy makeup so much and wanted to be able to share that passion/addiction with others. I’m not artsy when it comes to drawing, painting, writing, etc, so this how I am able to express myself creatively.

Luna: Do you have any future plans for different products? Any future collections in the works?
Vanessa: I wanted to launch Chinovi with just eyeshadows to ensure I would be able to manage everything. I have full intentions of offering so much more! I currently have matte shadows, brow powders and blushes being tested out. Look for them in the new year! As far as collections go… I have tons of ideas! I just finished creating the Holiday 2012 collection, “Oh, Christmas Tree” and am going to focus next on fine tuning the mattes, brow powders and blushes. I do have a collection that has been in the works for a year… it’s called the “Beauty Queens” collection and it is bases on all the girls in my family!

Luna: What is your favorite item that you make?
Vanessa: My favorite items to make are definitely eyeshadows! So many possibilities, not enough time!!

Luna: What is your favorite beauty item from another indie company?
Vanessa: Black Magic from OHWTO is my go to facial soap. I love how my face feels and looks afterwards. Which reminds me, I need to order more! I also am loving Darling Girls Azalea blush… gorgeous!

Luna: Would you rather be a Crow or a Bat?
Vanessa: I’d rather be a crow. They don’t creep my out the way bats do. Plus, I’m a HUGE “Game of Thrones” fan, and Jon Snow is often referred to as “crow”… and he’s HOT!

Luna: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Vanessa: I just want to say, Thank you for giving me this opportunity! I love that you have created such a great blog that spotlights indie products and companies like me! You’re awesome, Luna!

Sooooo, it’s been awhile since I planned on doing the indie interviews. Sorry Vanessa! I’ve had yours as a draft for um months. Whoops. But hey I’m getting it done right now. I hope not much has changed or I’ll have to do a second interview! Your blushes are pretty. I still love Gidget. I think you have it up for sale now. I think you reformulated it though. I’ll have to order some to see how it compares. The sample I have is beautiful. I have to agree with you on Black Magic is amazing and addicting. So I uh meant to post this last night, but completely forgot. Whoops. White I completely failed my faerie look this past week, I did find my perfect red. I forgot I’d purchased a mini Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick in Beranice a few months ago. I ran across it when attempting my faerie look. It’s perfect. I love it. I am no longer lemming for MAC’s Queen’s Sin.

Review: OHWTO Pink Slip Shaving Soap

Upon opening this soap I was greeted with a kind of woodsy floral scent. It wasn’t overpowering at all. When using this soap you don’t have to worry about the scent lingering after. I’ve used this soap both foaming it up with my hands and with one of those scratchy long bath towels. It doesn’t lather up much using it with your hands, but with the bath towel and I imagine poofs, gloves, etc. it foams up a lot. Either way it works well for shaving. If you leave in the bath or shower and it’s constantly wet, it will like most soaps dissolve into nothingness. I highly recommend this shaving soap. It’s wonderful. Previously I was using Black Magic for shaving soap(which also works well), this soap definitely works better as shaving soap.

Pink Slip Shaving soap is currently available online here at OHWTO.COM. For $5.95 you will receive a dark-pinish 4oz square bar. This soap came in a stiff cellophane bag sealed with a sticker stating what the product was and what company it was from. Then it was wrapped in saran wrap with the ingredient sticker. One bar should last around 2 months. This product is vegan.

Official description: Originally formulated as a gentle facial soap for more mature skin, skin which might not have appreciated Black Magic facial soap, Pink Slip was built on a different base and with different Essential Oils, for different needs. Then I tried it as a shaving soap and it was all over, heh. This stuff is AWESOME for shaving with.

Starting with an already-great vegan-friendly soap base, I added French pink clay, vitamin E, Chamomile, and a cheery blend of essential oils- Geranium Bourbon, Lemon, Peru Balsam, Frankincense, Lavener, Ylang Ylang, and Bergamot. The scent is not overpowering, and while as a perfume it might be more of a woman’s scent, as a soap it’s completely unisex.

The trick to getting the best performance out of this soap is a nylon bath pouf. You know the ones I’m talking about, I think we all have one in our showers, or have at some point. I’ve used my usual bristle brush, and washcloths, and even just my hands, all of which worked okay to varying degrees, but to really make the best lather, the bath pouf is superior. A rich, thick, pink (hence the name) and long-lasting lather comes out of those things when used with this soap that’ll put any commercial shaving foam to shame.

Ingredients: Coconut oil, palm oil, Safflower oil, Vegetable glycerin, Purified water, Sodium hydroxide, Sorbitol, Sorbitan oleate, Soybean protein, Wheat protein, Proprietary essential oil blend, French pink clay, Vitamin E, Chamomile.

Final thoughts, Would I purchase this again? Yes, yes I would. I love this soap. I like that the scent isn’t overpowering, I like that it feels like silk on wherever it is that you’re shaving. Since it lasts so long, the cost is so minimal it’s not even funny. Ahem for those who use it on the nether regions it does not irritate. Just saying… Anyways, you want this soap, you really do. Shoo, go on, go buy it! Shop description is spot on.

NOTE
With this soap I highly recommend some sort of soap holder so it can dry out between uses. I am a fan of wooden soap holders such as these They’re pretty cheap. I also recommend the razors from Dollar Shave Club. Husband and I get the $9 razors. BEST.THING.EVER
