So I kind of love all three of these colors. Vintage is not a color I would have picked for myself, but I really like it. I’m so glad Maleah put it in. I ended up ordering pressed pans of Figment and Juliet. They are beautiful pinky neutrals and I love them. I can’t wait to try the pressed version! As I said in my previous swatch post here, these formulas are fantastic but the pressed version is magical. It is buttery and smooth. It applies and blends beautifully. I love them. You must try these. Go forth and buy!

Chapter 1

Review: Ebook The Lost Bible: A Jewish Paranormal Novel by L. Rosenman

press sample

“What would you say if you suddenly received a mysterious phone call from someone telling you that there weren’t forty-eight of Gutenberg’s books, but forty-nine?”

Hannah, a green-eyed beauty, finds herself in mid-life with no husband, no work, and no clear direction. Following a promising ad, she joins an enthusiastic professor on a perilous search for a lost copy of the Gutenberg Bible, last seen in the 16th century. To succeed where others failed, they must decipher ancient encrypted texts, enter monasteries and torture cellars – and avoid dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to lay their hands on this priceless antiquity. But then they are forced to face an even greater challenge…

This suspenseful romance reveals an ancient love that drowned in blood 500 years ago, yet has endured to this day.

Where to buy
From Amazon – The kindle format is $ 0.99 USD and the paperback version is $12.53 USD.

So this book was hard for me to read. It’s basically about a Jewish historian named Hannah from Israel who ends up going on a trip to find a lost ancient bible with a man named Mickey who specializes in old scrolls and what not. They find clues about the bible through her dreams. They end up being followed by crooks who want to get to the bible first as a bunch of museums and other people were contacted about the priceless books. In the end Hannah finds it in an old monastery, but as she brings it up from the basement she finds herself at gunpoint by the men who kidnapped her love Mickey(They fell in love). She ends up stealing one of the covers from them, finds a rare document she was trying to find from a victim from like 500 years ago whose family was murdered for being Jewish and pretending to be christian. Things worked out in the end. The documents truly were priceless, Mickey was found safe, the crooks were caught and prosecuted, they got married and had a baby. It wasn’t a bad story, but what made it hard to read was all of the terms in the book. I had no idea what most of them were and had to look them up which made going back to read more difficult. I wish the book explained them. Just a brief description of what something was. It would have been easier to read. I could have just ignored things and read on but it really bothered me that I didn’t know what these things were. I also found myself skipping paragraphs here and there. Parts of the book were painfully boring and I just needed to get past them. Anyways it was a decent book, a difficult read.

So some of you may know that I’m not a huge fan of mattes. There are a few favorites I have, even then I don’t wear them much. I am also not the hugest fan of neutrals. I like my bright sparkly colors. But I have to say, I was completely blown away by these shadows. The loose formula is fantastic. It’s highly pigmented and blends easily, but the pressed shadows? They are truly amazing. They are soft and buttery, they apply wonderfully. They are just amazing. I love them. Maleah has done a wondrous job with her formulas and I hope she releases more shades in the future. I’d love to have some pinks/purples/teals from her. Oh yes. I love, love, love some of these colors and actually went off and ordered them in pressed shadows. >.> Immortals, Imogen and Thirteen are my favorites here. Even though I got a full loose size of Immortals I decided to get it pressed as well. See. I love them. t.t I also ordered another Imogen that I’m going to be giving away with some other favorite indie stuff probably next month. :d Seriously. If you haven’t tried them, you need to. They completely changed how I feel about mattes and neutrals. I can’t wait to do a look with them!

Review: OZ Naturals Enzyme Dermafoliant

press sample

Official description

  • OZ NATURALS DERMAFOLIANT utilizes bamboo to gently exfoliate skin and unclog pores without irritation, drying or stripping.
  • THIS FACE SCRUB contains Lactic Acid further helps the exfoliation process by breaking down and removing dead skin cells, revealing the glow of healthy skin beneath, and assists in reducing fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging from sun damage.
  • ANOTHER KEY INGREDIENT, Green Tea Extract, is rich in antioxidants and helps to prevent collagen breakdown as well as tone and protect the skin from the damaging effect of free radicals.
  • THE PRO-VITAMIN B5 IN OUR SCRUB is readily absorbed by the skin and penetrates deep down, retaining moisture and relieving dry, irritated skin, and Alpha Lipoic Acid provides anti-inflammatory effects reducing redness and blotchiness, shrinking pore size and imparting a healthy radiance to the skin
  • SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES, our bamboo exfoliant is all natural and paraben free

Where to buy
From Amazon – You get a 2.75 fluid ounce bottle for $24.95 USD.

Directions
Exfoliation is key for maintaining youthful, healthier skin and for proper penetration of serums. Exfoliation should be done 2-3 times a week. Dispense roughly a nickel size amount into the palm of the hand, and mix in a tiny amount of fresh water-just enough to make a thin liquid paste. Next, apply to face, neck, and décolleté (or any area of the body that needs to be exfoliated.) Rub in a circular motion, making about 3-4 passes over the entire area(s). It is recommended to leave on the skin for at least 5 minutes, so the key ingredients will have time to absorb into the pores. It is also recommended to use this product in the shower, so the heat will open the pores and assist with product penetration. Use while showering is also best in order to completely rinse away all of the residue afterwards. After exfoliating, pat skin dry, follow with OZ Naturals toner, then serums, next moisturizer, and lastly eye treatment.

Packaging
This comes in a cardboard box that has company and product information on it. It is a white plastic bottle with a silver twist to open cap.

Scent and formula
This has an herbal almost astringent scent. It’s a fine almost white, slightly gritty powder.

Ingredients
Bambusa Arundinacea Stem Powder (bamboo powder), sucrose, lactic acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (green tea powder), panthenol (provitamin b-5), Thioctic Acid (alpha lipoic acid).

Okay so the formula and name were changed. This was formerly called Ancient Orient Rice Enzyme Dermafoliant and had rice powder in it, it no longer has rice powder and instead uses bamboo powder. The ingredients on the bottle are old ingredients, but they were updated on the box, and the name on the packaging is the old name. With that said, I have been using this for about a month and a half. It’s a wonderful scrub. It only takes a tiny amount mixed with water to create a really effective exfoliating scrub. This has a really interesting smell, it’s herbal and a little spicy and also kind of astringent like. I quite like it. The first time I used this I made the mistake of using way too much powder and then scrubbed my face too much. I made it raw. It literally takes the smallest amount and there is no need to use a lot of pressure or to scrub for a long amount of time for this to be effective. The lid has a tendency to twist all the way off when you’re trying to open it and it doesn’t quite seal all the way so if you get the bottle wet while it’s closed, water can still get inside. Those are the only two issues I have with this product though. It’s a wonderful product. After using this my face is soft and smooth. This isn’t drying either like some scrubs can be. I use this 2-3 times a week and it has improved the way my skin looks and feels. I’ve also noticed that I use smaller amounts of my serums and moisturizer since I started using this. This is also paraben free, vegan and cruelty free.

Where to buy
From Zakia’s Morocco – You get an 8 ounce jar for $19.99 USD. It’s currently on sale for $10.99 USD.

Directions
After your spa, bath or shower while your skin is still moist and warm, apply a thin layer of Zakia’s Atlas Mountain Clay Mask over your face and body.

1. Add the clay into a bowl (size of a full large mug)
2. Pour water on top of the clay until it just covers it (big maximum 5 mm of water above the clay). Pour the water slowly so you can be sure you are not adding too much water and make the final mask too runny.
3. Wait 2-3 minutes so the water is fully absorbed by the clay. If needed add a bit more water.
4. Wait another 2-3 minutes and start mixing everything with a plastic or wooden spoon until you have a clear mixture – it shouldn’t be lumpy. Keep stirring if you see any lumps. If you feel that the mixture is too runny and won’t stick to your skin, add more clay and mix again. But bear in mind that it is easier to add more water than more clay.
5. Apply it on your face. Ideally, the mask should be really thick (like a 5mm thickness) but it can be thinner if you want. You will feel the tingling as the mask works to remove impurities and dead skin cells.
6. Do not leave the mask to the point it is completely dry on your skin. The edges will start drying out first, which is fine. Just add with your fingers a bit or oil on the edges to avoid it being itchy. It can be any oil such as jojoba oil or olive oil.
7. Leave the mask at least 15-20 minutes, but it depends how thick it is. If you have a very thin layer of clay, it can last just 10 minutes. But you won’t see very must results like this so I would recommend doing enough quantity so you can have a reasonably thick layer.
8. Just use warm water to clear your face. You don’t need soap for this.
9. When you skin is cleaned, apply a moisturizing cream as the clay will absorb moisture from the skin along with any impurities.
10. Your skin will be silky smooth and remarkably clean.

After drying, you may wish to compliment your clay mask treatment with one of Zakia’s Argan Collection Oils. These have been specially formulated for facial treatments. If you want a soothing and relaxing massage, try a small portion of our pure Argan Oil and gently massage. An exceptional finish to an exceptional treatment.

Your skin will be silky smooth and you will feel radiant. Do enjoy!

External Use Only

Keep out of reach children. Avoid contact with eyes. In the unlikely event that a skin irritation, rash or allergy arise from using this product or eye contact occurs and irritation persists after thoroughly rinsing the effected area we recommend you consult your physician for further advice.

Packaging
This comes in a clear plastic jar with a white screw on cap. The label has product and company information.

Scent and formula
This is a fine tan powder. It smells like a regular clay mask powder.

Ingredients
Moroccan Lava clay.

I have been using this clay from Zakia’s Morocco for a little over a month. This clay is pretty nice for the skin and hair. I’ve used this a couple of times as a hair mask. It leaves my hair a little softer and much less frizzy. As a face mask this leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and reduces the appearance of pores. It’s a very fine powder that makes a really smooth mask. This is non-drying but helps with oiliness. I did notice my skin was a little pink after using the mask but it went away within a half hour. You can use this once a week as a face mask. You are also supposed to be able to mix some with shampoo to create a better cleansing shampoo but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m not sure if it would strip the color from my hair faster or not, so I haven’t tried. xd
