Thursday Guest Post!

Favorite Inner Corner Highlights

Hello everyone! I’m Carissa and I run The Indie Makeup Blog. Luna was nice enough to allow me a spot as her guest poster today.

You know how people say that adding mascara ties a whole look together? Well for me it’s a nice bright eyeshadow placed in the inner corner. Even when I just wear liner, I still add an inner corner highlight. It makes you look more awake and I love the effect it gives. Although there are plenty of eye-brightening shades out there, I have a few in my regular rotation that are my tried and trues. I applied these without primer or a glitter fixative because I wanted you to be able to get a better idea of how it would look worn in the inner corner.

4

Fyrinnae Sled Puppies is a white gold shimmer with subtle blue sparkles. This is my #1 shadow that I reach for to highlight. Pigmented, smooth, and the white gold shimmer seems to complement nearly any look. I’ve also used this as a cheek highlight and it’s very pretty worn that way.

3

Hello Waffle Sweetie is a shimmery off-white with blue iridescence. The blue shimmer is more apparent in person. This eyeshadow was part of the limited edition Kitty Kingdom collection. For those who don’t know, The Kitty Kingdom collection was inspired by the pet’s of members from Hello Waffle’s Facebook fan page. A portion of the proceeds were given to a local pet shelter in Christine’s area. I like this shade a lot because of the blue sheen. I use this all the time with other blue eyeshadows such as Femme Fatale Dreamstate and Hello Waffle The Great Catsby.

2

Fyrinnae Crimson Ghost is a soft white with a prominent pink shift. The shift can look red or pink depending on the lighting and this one is pretty pigmented. It is easily one of my favorite shades from Fyrinnae and I highly recommend picking it up. One of my go-to looks is Fyrinnae Repunzel Has Extensions on the lid, Fyrinnae It Beautifies! in the crease, and Crimson Ghost on the inner corner.

1

Femme Fatale Perspect-Illusion is a soft pink with a strong blue shift. The blue shift is so intense that it often appears blue instead of pink. Femme Fatale is known as one the best makers of duochromes in the market, and I absolutely agree. This shade is stunning. I like to pair it with Femme Fatale Prismo.

5

Hello Waffle Snow Bees is an off white with subtle creamsicle shimmer. I wish I had more sunlight the day I swatched these so you could see the shimmer more, but trust me it’s there in person. I tend to use this one with orange shadows such as Hello Waffle Fauxlivia.

6

Shiro Moon Prism Power a white gold with a green shift. This is part of Shiro’s High Scores collection and is pretty loved in the indie world. Plus, Sailor Moon. How can you go wrong? This and Femme Fatale Planeshift make the most beautiful combination!

7

Femme Fatale Bone Dust is a greyed out lilac matte base with pink shimmer. Hello long description! But seriously, this color is so cool. Femme Fatale has a few shadows in the matte base + shimmer formula and I really like them. I don’t have anything like this in my collection and it’s light enough to wear in the inner corner or on the lid.

8

Aromaleigh 100 Years of Winter is a sheer grey with heavy silver sparkle and a subtle pink shift. This color was actually made to be used as a multipurpose highlighter so I wear it both as an inner corner shade and as a cheek highlight. It was part of the first Aromaleigh Ephemera Subscription box.

That wraps up my most used highlight shades! Hope you guys enjoyed. Thanks again Luna for allowing me to be your guest poster today :)

Reese's Spreads

Review: Reese’s Spreads VoxBox

Official description

Reese’s Spreads Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread is rich, delicious Reese’s Peanut Butter and chocolate in a creamy spread to be used in many ways such as spreading on bread, fruits, wafer cookies, pretzels and crackers. Fine pieces of peanutsdeliver the favorite flavor and texture of the peanut butter centers of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Reese’s Spreads Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread:

  • Transform a snack into a treat
  • The product contains the same exact peanut butter centers that make up the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Perfect for sharing with your family
  • Kosher

Where to buy
From Walmart – 13 ounces for $3.38 USD.

Packaging
The Reese’s Spread comes in a clear plastic jar with a an orange screw on lid. The label has product and company information on it and is orange with black, white and yellow details.

Scent and formula
It smells like peanut butter and chocolate, like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It’s very gritty and waxy feeling and thick. It is brown in color.

Ingredients
Sugar, Peanuts, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower And Palm Oil), Dextrose, Nonfat Milk, Contains 2% Or Less of: Cocoa Processed With Alkali, Cocoa, Salt, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (Palm And Canola Oil), Soy Lecithin, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Tbhq (Preservative), Citric Acid. Allergen Information Statement: Contains Peanuts. Manufactured On The Same Equipment That Processes Almonds And Hazelnuts.

I really, really wanted to like this. I do like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups so I thought this would be fantastic. Unfortunately I don’t like it. It gave me a stomach ache both times I tried it. It does taste very similar to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but it’s very, very, very sweet and it feels waxy. It’s also extremely gritty. The texture is not like crushed peanuts, it’s just gritty and weird. Fumiko didn’t like it either, but Sascha however likes it. So he’s been eating it. He likes it on toast and waffles. I’m glad that it won’t go to waste. But this isn’t for me!

Miss sicky pants!

Fotor_142387974996911

First Happy Friday the 13th! Second, Fumiko got sick at her dads last Saturday and when she came home Sunday she had a fever and a sore throat. d= I ran to the store and got some OTC fever and cough medicine and started giving it to her. Her fever hovered between 100 and 101 for most of the week. Monday I kept her home because she was just too ill to go to school. Tuesday she looked better so she went back to school. Thursday after school she looked worn out and tired. She had dark circles under her eyes which she often gets when she’s sick, but these were worse than usual.

When we got home I gave her her ADHD medication and a dose of the fever/cough medicine then I called NARA to see if I could get her in that day or Friday and our doctor had nothing available nor did anyone else. So I checked her temperature and it was over 103. I think it was 103.2. It was too high. She was freezing under a blanket on the couch. I got her shoes on her and put her robe on her, got her bottle of tea(the only thing she’d been willing to drink all week and barely that), got my moms kindle and we went to the ER. They got us right into a triage room and started getting her info. Then the nurse took her temperature and she told me it was over 104. t.t It only took us maybe 10 minutes to get to the ER. So they took her straight into a room.

After a couple of minutes a nurse came in and put a cool wet cloth over her forehead and I turned cartoons on for her. The doctor came in not long after and looked at her throat. He said she had a bad case of strep throat. He said “I’m not even going to bother doing a culture, she has big white spots on the back of her throat, she has strep and it looks bad”. So he prescribed her amoxicillin. The nurse gave her some fluids and a dose of motrin/tylenlol and a popsicle. I was told to give her the amoxicillin three times a day for ten days and to get some motrin and tylenol to give her. So home we went. I dropped her off and went to get her Rx and the tylenol/motrin. I have been sick all week and not feeling well and this morning I woke up with a sore throat. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Sascha was coughing all night long and I was afraid I was going to have to take him to the ER. Luckily he doesn’t have a store throat just feels nauseated and has a slight fever. Here’s to hoping he and I don’t get it.

Fumiko is doing better today. Her fever is going up and down between 99 and 100 but that is a whole lot better than 104. Her throat still hurts and she doesn’t feel good but she’s drinking and eating a little more and doesn’t look so pale and ill. I am tired and I want to sleep for a week. But instead I made dinner and am doing laundry. And later I have more pictures to take. Always more pictures!

Life post #I’m not really sure

Life has been so strange and hectic lately. I got approved for the Act team at NARA so I have been talking to a couple of really nice ladies. Fortunately one of them I saw a lot at NARA Youth and Family Services from taking Sascha and Fumiko to therapy so it was much easier meeting with her. Both of the kids have been recently diagnosed with ADHD on top of their Autism. They are now on a low dose of Methylin. I know that medications have many side effects and I have looked into them, but for right now, for my family, this is what is right. Will they be on them for forever? I don’t know. All I know is that they are both doing better since being on it and they aren’t acting like zombies or having side effects. It’s been two weeks now and they are doing better. I will hopefully be getting help with my credit and housing because of the Act team. Hopefully they have avenues I don’t have access to. Things are moving in the right direction. It’s been busy but good. My migraines are getting bad though and the medication my doctor put me on for it makes me horribly ill. t.t Fumiko got sick at her dads this last weekend and in turn Sascha and I got sick. I am still sick and bleh. Tomorrow the kiddoes go in to see Mary to see how they are doing on their meds and I will hopefully meet with someone from Act about my credit. I am so tired and my head is killing me right now. I am getting caught up on swatches. I have a lot to photograph and it’s taking time. I am still getting use to this camera but I have one company almost done and then I can start on the next. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can actually get some swatches up. I will be getting a review up in the next couple of days for my current glasses! They are from Firmoo and awesome! ^.^ Also I talked to a lady today from Act and she wants me to do a sleep study thing to see what is going on with my insomnia and she thinks I should go on Abilify. She’s got to look into it. I can’t take anything that works with Serotonin because of the Serotonin Syndrome I had a few years ago. >.< Now I shall go be nauseated and miserable. XD I hope everyone else is doing well and not sick.

Thursday Guest Post!

Life’s Entropy lip and foundation elixir swatches and review!

My first ever Life’s Entropy haul finally came in! I made an order during Black Friday after completely falling in love with some samples I got from an exchange.

I was busy with traveling and hadn’t noticed that my package was lost in the abyss of Canadian mail until the store owner, Jane, emailed me. She offered me the choice of either a full refund or a new package and I picked the latter of course, because I wanted my pretties and I had ordered birthday gifts for my friend! I was quite impressed that Jane took the initiative to contact me. She also offered me a discount coupon to make up for the long waiting time. So major points for customer service and you can bet I’ll be putting that coupon to good use sometime. (:

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESI got the foundation elixir in yellow, a few Lip Theory and Lip Theory samples, and a full-sized Big Bang Theory because it’s freaking amazing and gorgeous. The little vial is the gift with purchase, Chaos.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESHere’s what the foundation elixir in yellow looks like. It’s darker than I expected. It’s a little tricky to get out of the tube. Even after shaking vigorously, it still comes out looking a little like it’s separated? However, once you mix it up, it functions just fine. I find the tube kind of a pain to use because it’s hard to control how much comes out and I ended up squeezing out a lot more than I had intended to later on.

The only foundation I’ve found that really works and stays on me is Estee Lauder’s Double Wear in 2N1 Desert Beige. Depending on the lighting, sometimes it still looks a smidge too pink on me and hence why I got the foundation elixir to try and play with!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESHere’s a swatch on my arm. On the left is my usual foundation, on the right has a little bit of yellow elixir mixed in.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESMy usual foundation.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESWith yellow elixir.

It’s very easy to mix with your foundation and it doesn’t change the original consistency much. Although, if you’re mixing in a lot more elixir that could change it! I think it works very well to give a yellow tint that doesn’t look too sallow.

After this experiment, I’m starting to realize maybe my original foundation is just fine. Ugh, my foundation woes never end and maybe my eyes are just deluding me! I was hoping this yellow elixir would help me figure it out but now I’m realizing I maybe didn’t need it after all. I might pass it on to someone else because I find it still worked very well as intended. And now that you’ve all witnessed my foolishness when it comes to foundation, we can move on to lip swatches! Yay :d

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThis is what the little samples of the Lip Theory Satin colors look like. They’re small but have a quite good amount of lipstick to try out and I’m sure it’ll last many more uses.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Left to right: Plasma, Flux, Chaos, Apoptosis,  Nucleus, Big Bang Theory

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESI really like the formula of the Lip Theory Satins! I used a lip brush to apply them. They’re really pigmented and creamy, making for a really smooth and easy application.  On my lips, Plasma and Flux seem reaaaally similar, with the latter leaning more red. I’ve seen other swatches where I think Plasma looks quite different though, so it might just be a matter of how pigmented my lips are. Although I love berry shades, I think Flux looks better on me and I quite like it.

Although the colors are really pretty, they’re also quite common colors in my opinion and I probably would not have purchased a full size. I’m glad I got to try out these samples though because they were really nice to use and very opaque.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThe GWP, a limited edition Lip Theory in Chaos. It comes in a little vial with a doefoot applicator. It’s a very pretty fuschia color and the consistency is more like the usual Lip Theory rather than the Cosmos collection lipsticks. This was an awesome gift, it’s really a fabulous color and I really enjoy the Lip Theory formula so heck yes, give me more!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESApoptosis is really bright on me. While I love the color, it’s just CRAZY NEON in person and it comes off a bit more muted in this photo. I don’t know if I can quite wear it out just like that, haha.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSo I mixed it with a teensy bit of Big Bang Theory to create a more wearable yet bright color. It turned out quite lovely!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESBlurgh, you can see the area around my lips getting rather red from the constant rubbing off of lipstick. I love Nucleus, it’s really pigmented for a black lipstick and it’s just about as dark as my soul. It’s perfect. I need a full size of this for sure!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESAnd not to mention, it’s a lot of fun for mixing up new colors! Here’s Nucleus with BBT for a very murder-ey look. Also, I got too lazy to keep wiping lipstick off my piercing.

I really wanna get more of these just for the amazing mixing potential! I like the Lip Theories a LOT more than the OCC lip tars I have. My lip tars feather really quickly and bleed even when I have on lip liner |: And that’s never fun to deal with.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESAnd just for fun, here’s Placebo with Shiro Cosmetic’s Women’s Weapons. I like mixing it on my own a lot better than purchasing custom glosses from Shiro, especially since the one custom gloss I’ve tried just doesn’t last well on my lips. This stays on a lot better and doesn’t feel so slippery and awkward to work with.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESMy mixing palette after all of that. SO MUCH FUN, I SWEAR.

And that concludes this guest post! Thanks a ton Luna for letting me guest post again on your pretty pretty blog! Also these emoticons are way too cute.

It smells like aloe vera gel and has a similar consistency as aloe vera gel. It’s a clear, cloudy gel.

I’ve used the True Skin Care Anti-Aging Eye Gel for a couple of weeks now and I like it. It’s a soothing and cooling eye gel that is supposed to also help with under eye circles and help with anti-aging. I have noticed that after using it my eyes look a little less puffy and it most definitely feels good. It’s very cooling. I haven’t notice any difference with under eye circles, but to be honest I don’t have very visible ones so I didn’t expect much of a change. It’s very hydrating without leaving any residue. I like this under eye gel. In general I find that cooling under eye gels tend to burn my eyes but this did not. I like that very much. This is made in the USA in FDA registered facilities and has a money back guarantee. If you aren’t happy with it, just email them and you’ll get your money back!

CreditCover

Review: CreditCovers

press sample

Official description
CreditCovers are the original skins for credit cards. Also called “credit card stickers”, CreditCovers allow you to cover the boring designs on your bank card with cool art or custom messages.

Where to buy
From CreditCovers – You get one CreditCover for $9.99 USD.

Packaging
You receive a little card that has instructions and company info on it as well as your CreditCover. It appears to be made out of a vinyl material.

I had the opportunity to try out a CreditCover and chose to make my own! I made one of Mochi in space, because I love that image so much. xd It was really easy to make and it was shipped off to me pretty quickly after my order was complete. The colors are vibrant just like the image I used. It was a little tricky to apply to my card only because it was so sticky. I got it on though and haven’t had any issues with it. it’s not peeling off anywhere and I managed to not get any bubbles under it. When you get a CreditCover you can choose from the many they already have, like Hello Kitty or their cute little card creatures, or you can make your own like I did! These are made in the US right here in New York by the way. They are super cute and durable and I like them!
